Pockets patched on the outside, not set into the seam
Both hip pockets are patched onto the front where they can be seen, with a third patched on the chest, which is what keeps this from reading as a suit jacket. The lapel is a notch, the shoulder is left soft with no padding in it, and the front closes on buttons down a plain edge. The sleeve finishes with buttons at the cuff.
